															What: Casco Bay Clean-up Challenge
When: Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27
Where: Anywhere in the Casco Bay Watershed
Imagine this: People all over the Casco Bay watershed, picking up trash for two days, from sunup on Friday, July 26 to sundown on Saturday, July 27. They’re helping protect our watershed from litter and microplastics and making it a healthier place for critters and people alike. This is the Casco Bay Clean-up Challenge.
Join us! We challenge you to help clean up the Casco Bay watershed in whatever way works for you:
- Pick up a discarded plastic cup on your way to work.
- Plan a riverside outing with your besties and spend an hour filling a bag with trash.
- Cleanup the culverts in your neighborhood.
However you decide to participate, we want as many people as possible to pick up trash over the course of 48 hours.
How does this help? Litter and marine debris can harm wildlife, pollute our waters, and reduce our quality of life. Plastic pollution breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces making it harder and harder to remove from our environment. Taking part in a cleanup in the watershed is an easy way to aid us in our mission to improve and protect the health of Casco Bay.
Track it! Participants will track the trash they pick up with the Clean Swell App. This data helps us advocate for a cleaner environment.
Share the clean-up love! Take a selfie of you and your favorite piece of trash. Squeeze together with your clean-up friends and your bags of trash and show us how much a clean watershed makes you smile. Tag your photos on Facebook and Instagram with #cascobaycleanup and #friendsofcascobay.
