What: Stormwater Social, a Water Reporter Event
1st location: Paul’s Marina, 36 Eastern Shore Road, Brunswick, Maine 04011
2nd location: Mere Point Boat Launch, 1161 Mere Point Road, Brunswick, Maine 04011
Date: Thursday, August 22, 2024
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
We will meet at 5:30 p.m. at Paul’s Marina in Brunswick where we will treat you to ice cream! While we snack, Science and Advocacy Associate Heather Kenyon will give an overview of stormwater pollution, how it impacts the health of Casco Bay and how Friends of Casco Bay is tackling it. Sara Freshley, Community Organizer and Volunteer Coordinator, will talk about how Water Reporters can play a crucial role in helping to combat stormwater pollution. We will wrap up the conversation at Paul’s Marina around 6:15 p.m.
For those who want more, follow Heather and Sara up the road at Mere Point Boat Launch where we will look at how stormwater moves across the landscape. While we are there, we will also look for algae, eelgrass, and view the salt marsh! This is a great opportunity to do a field visit with the experts to learn more about how your Water Reporter observations can be helpful to our science and advocacy work. The whole event will wrap up by 7:00 p.m. All are welcome.
