Aug 11: Portland Coastal Cleanup

Two men clean up trash on a rocky beachJoin us for a community cleanup in Portland on Monday, August 11th from 5 PM – 7 PM at Back Cove Trail!

Help us protect our coastal habitats by taking part in a litter cleanup of the area surrounding Back Cove Trail, preventing marine debris and microplastics from entering our waterways.

Activities:

  • 5 PM Volunteer Sign-in & opening  remarks
  • 5:30 PM Cleanup to protect Casco Bay!
  • 6:30 PM Impact Sorting & Closing Remarks

Public Transit & Parking:

Accessibility:  Back Cove Trail is largely ADA accessible, but please expect mixed terrain. Most cleanup activities at this location should be able to accommodate a wide range of abilities and ages. Some cleanup activities that are on the shoreline may not be accessible.

What to pack: Volunteers will be provided with clean-up supplies, including gloves and bags. Come dressed comfortably for the clean-up, we recommend closed-toe shoes and bring your reusable water bottle. If you’d like, feel free to bring your own gardening gloves and reusable bags/a bucket!

Oceanic Global and Corona are on a mission to clean up 100 beaches and remove 1 million pounds of plastic waste by 2025. Since 2021, Oceanic Global has partnered with Corona USA to host a nationwide series of volunteer Community Cleanups across the country as part of the ‘Protect Our Beaches’ program. Each year the program includes a series of Community Cleanups which are supported by mission-aligned local NGO partners.
