Pollution

Pollution threatens the health of Casco Bay—and your observations help us respond. Use Water Reporter to document trash, oil sheens, discolored water, or anything that looks out of place.

What to do if you witness an emergency—such as an oil spill, injured wildlife, or a person in danger

Please contact the appropriate authority first. You can find a list of emergency contacts here.

After reporting the issue, then share your observation on Water Reporter.

If You See a Lot of Trash

If you see a large amount of trash around Casco Bay, please document it in the Water Reporter App. We will use this information to add it to the areas we encourage and hold coastal cleanups in the future.

You can help Casco Bay at any time by completing your own coastal cleanup. See tips about how to do your own cleanup here. If you do this, consider sharing the results of your pickup on the Water Reporter app with a summary of the cleanup.
