Last year, a youth photographer won Best in Show.
The photographer who took home Best in Show for our 2023 Frame the Bay photo contest was a 17-year-old student who didn’t consider herself a photographer at the time. Ava McKinley’s image of wooden posts in Portland, Maine is intriguing, evocative, and mysterious. For Ava, Casco Bay is a special place. By sharing her photos of Casco Bay with us, Ava is helping us in our work of improving and protecting the health of the water.
You too can help us tell the story of Casco Bay this year.
When photographers submit their images to Frame the Bay, they are doing more than just vying for a shot at winning a take-home prize. They are joining Friends of Casco Bay as change-makers, problem-solvers, and storytellers. We ask photographers submitting to our Frame the Bay contest to share permission with us to use their images in our work. Throughout the year, we highlight their photos in our emails, blog posts, print materials, and social media feeds. We give them credit and they lend us their visually stunning images, allowing us to touch hearts and engage folks in improving and protecting the environmental health of Casco Bay.
