Mindful Observation Seasonal Series
Join Water Reporter Davinica Nemtzow, owner of Kaneel, at Spear Farm Estuary Preserve for each of the four seasons to hone your observation skills amidst meadows, forests, saltwater marsh, freshwater, and more. Davinica will lead grounding exercises to heighten our senses, followed by a guided walk exploring the dynamic interactions of fresh and saltwater ecosystems. We’ll conclude each session with moments of reflection.
Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your connection with nature and join us each season to witness the changing landscape.
All are welcome at any session. We encourage you to attend all four sessions to observe the full spectrum of seasonal transformations
All Mindful Observation sessions take place at Spear Farm Estuary Preserve, 424 Bayview St, Yarmouth, Maine.

We started our Fall Mindful Observation session in a frost-coated meadow, listening to the sounds of birds and traffic, noticing the warmth of our mugs of hot cider, the puffs of our breaths in the cold air, the soft silkiness of milkweed seeds. We slowed down. We tuned in. We learned about shade leaves versus sun leaves, glasswort, cord grass, and the bright red berries of Jack in the pulpit.

Water Reporter Davinica Nemtzow of Kaneel, led twelve other Water Reporters through grounding exercises to heighten their senses, followed by a guided walk through meadows, a forest, and a saltwater marsh. We observed many things: egrets on the pond, snails burrowing in the mud, tiny toads, sounds of fishing boats, the smell of salt marsh, and our quieted minds.
