Swimmable Water Weekend

Every day, industries are lobbying our elected officials to weaken clean water protections. Please join Friends of Casco Bay and the Waterkeeper Alliance for a coordinated effort to enjoy our waterways, mobilize our communities and remind decision-makers that people value clean water!

Between July 25-28, we are promoting clean, swimmable waters as part of Swimmable Water Weekend and encouraging you to do the same.

We are asking you to take a photo of yourself enjoying Casco Bay between July 25-28. Then post those photos to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with the hashtags #swimmablewater & #cascobay. Whether you swim, paddle, surf, wade, fish or just gazing out over the Bay, we hope you will snap a photo of you with the Bay and take part in Swimmable Water Weekend.

Swimmable Water Weekend photos from all over the world are being aggregated online at www.theswimguide.orgNot on social media? No problem! Email us your photo or story at slyman [at] cascobay [dot] org and we’ll add it for you.

You can also email your photos with a message of clean water to your Congressperson and Senators and tell them we have a right to clean water! Click here for sample message to your elected officials.

Waterkeeper Swim Guide is a free website and smartphone app that helps users in the USA and Canada find 5,000 beaches and check it out at www.theswimguide.org.
